In Tilburg, I never felt concerned when I was walking home from town, by myself, after dark. I probably wouldn't feel as easy about doing the same in Auckland. This is not because I feel that there is more crime in Auckland, rather it would be less easy to get someone's attention, should something happen. In Auckland, all of the houses are well back from the street with a hedge or fence and a front yard. In Tilburg, all of the houses are joined together and are right up on the footpath. You could literally extend your arm and knock on the living room window. Someone would be watching television on the other side.
I took a couple of my boxes home from Mum's office. My room is beginning to feel more like my room. This is because I have put some posters on the walls and filled some of my drawers.
